Angola – dim prospects of a great event!

The signs I see about Angola 2010 are dire.
The country is difficult to access. It is not the easiest place to visit. The only ways to get there are via South Africa or Kenya, both long and expensive journeys. Securing the country’s visa also is extremely tedious from the reports one has been getting from those that have travelled there. The distances between match venues are substantial and internal transportation between them is also not easy. Add to all of that the fact that Angola is one of the most expensive countries in the world. The cheapest hotels cost around $250 dollars a night and may likely increase as the championship draws closer. The language spoken in Angola, Portuguese, is only spoken by two or three other countries in Africa. Communication will pose a serous challenge for visitor s and journalists. People cannot travel n and out of Angola as a result of the challenges enumerated earlier and yet they cannot stay for the duration of the event because of the high costs involved. Finally, for Nigerians going to the championship without the time to make major changes in the team and without a large contingent of its travelling band of supporters able to go and lift their spirit, it simply means that the prospect for winning the championship is very bleak. That’s why many are not excited about Angola 2010. Any thought of a good outing is wishful under the present circumstances!
