European League Predictions – Week 14

The battles across the European league hot up this week. But nowhere more so than at Anfield where it reaches fever pitch as the gladiators of EPL (Liverpool and Man. City) meet in what some are already describing as the league decider. It is early days yet, but it holds massive significance to pundits, supporters and players alike.

French Ligue 1

Match: Olympique Marseille v Olympique Lyon

Synopsis:

The battle of Olympicos is the biggest fixture of the weekend in the French top flight. It is also a duel between two strikers expected to dominate for their respective clubs – Dario Benedetto (Marseille) v Moussa Dembele (Lyon). These two clubs will compete for the 99th time in Ligue 1 on Sunday night. We expect a classic game where both teams should score.

Verdict: 2-2

Italian Serie A

Match: Juventus v AC Milan

Synopsis:

This game used to be a Scudetto showpiece but it is now a game between league leaders and 11th place Milan.  The last time Milan beat Juventus in Turin in the league was back in 2011, when Gennaro Gattuso scored the winner. Juventus are much better and should take this.

Verdict: 3-1 (Juventus to win)

German Bundesliga

Match: Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund

Synopsis:

Der Klassiker rivalry is intensified by on-field success and both teams will look to grab all three points as they aim to move closer to the top of the table.  Both teams have struggled defensively and Robert Lewandowski’s form means the Polish striker can hurt his former club and be the matchwinner in this game.

Verdict: 2-1 (Bayern Munich to win)

Spanish LaLiga

Match: Eibar v Real Madrid

Synopsis:

This fixture holds plenty of bad memories for Real Madrid who was humbled 3-0 at Ipurua the last term. Eibar has a poor record against the top sides in the division. If Real Madrid can find something like the level they found in midweek, there should be no repeat of last season’s humiliation

Verdict: 2-1 (Real Madrid to win)

English Premier League

Match: Liverpool v Manchester City

Synopsis:

This is a mouthwatering match between the Premier League’s top two teams. Liverpool is targeting their 11th win in 12 matches while Pep Guardiola’s team is looking for a fourth successive league victory. Man City did a good job at Anfield last season with 0-0 draw but the absentees this time has made them weaker. Liverpool will go nine points clear if they win and they can

Verdict: 2-1 (Liverpool to win)
