What a year this has been for the sports and entertainment industry. As I was rounding up my sports ‘diet’ for this week I received a call from one of the Directors of the International Sports Academy. It was additional sad news coming after the one of the passage of my childhood friend and colleague, Aloysius Atuegbu.

Uncle Steve Rhodes may not have been known as a practitioner in the sports business but in a way he was. He loved sports and followed it with a passion.  The roles he played also in putting together the entertainment content of COJA 2003 in particular is very well known. On a personal note, he was a consultant to The International Sports Academy, Wasimi Orile on Music and we shared the vision of the academy to advance music, film, dance and drama in the school. Aside from that the Rhodes sisters, Gloria and Janet have been my friends for decades.

The telephone call was to inform me that Uncle Steve Rhodes passed away in a London hospital after a surgery.

This is to wish Gloria and Janet God’s strength at this testy time. Sleep well great Uncle!
