Nigeria can win the 2030 FIFA World Cup!
The ongoing FIFA World Cup has been a big revelation - the gap between the countries in football is narrowing fast!
A few African countries are showing some glimpses of that possibility that one of them shall win the trophy very soon.
Sam Okpodu, former International player, former coach of the Super Falcons, former Chairman of The Black Coaches Association of the USA, is in Nigeria from his base in America. He looks at the matches and teams in the World Cup…without Nigeria. He observes that there are 12 Nigerians playing in other National teams. He postulates that a Nigerian frontline of Victor Osimhen (Nigeria), Bukayo Saka (England) and Folarin Balogun (USA) would be unstoppable in any World Cup. And that with what we are all witnessing in the current World Cup, Nigeria has the players (if harnessed properly) to win the World Cup. But that the country must do what needs to be done!!!
What should be done?
On ‘90 mins with Mathematical7’ Sam Okpodu, Osasu Obayiuwana (from his first World Cup observatory in New York) and I take a close look at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup and peer into the possibilities of the 2030 edition.

Muda Lawal of Nigeria opened scoring and closed the scorers’ chart of the 1980 African Cup of Nations, scoring the first of tournament’s 33 goals against Tanzania and scoring the last goal in the final match against Algeria.
Big Shegs, thanks for these wonderful videos.
Very interesting memories. We were fanatical about the Green Eagles as they were then called. Henry Nwosu had just broken into the team. We were extremely jealous of him because he belonged to the other school. We also were jealous of Adokie because he was from another other school, but nonetheless we were proud of them because they represented the best of Lagos schools who graduated into the national team. Can’t wait to see more videos?
Great guys Adokiye was superb on d left , Segun terrific on on d right…d Eagles of today must learn from dis clips and start to play like true Eagles
Great stuff. Thanks sharing this piece history with us your aburos Big Sheg. Always the Mathematical 7!
Just look at those short pants showing the physics of the sportsmen.
When men were boys. Highly determined without thinking of financial benefits from anyone because they were all fully employed.
