On ‘90 mins with Mathematical7’ this morning…..The Games begin…
Tomorrow, the Gateway Games 2024, the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival, Nigeria’s Olympic Games, begin. The Opening Ceremony will, however, take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
The transformation of the Sports facilities and infrastructure for the Games has left many in awe of the government and Governor of Ogun State.
Abeokuta, around the stadium environment, is now thronged by the public anxious to see the result of a rapid transformation such as has not been seen since the last Games were held in 2006.
The Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Dàpo Abiodun, is the driver of this enormous project.
On 90 mins with Mathematical this Saturday morning, I shall be sharing my thoughts on the games, so far, with two neutral observers that were with the Governor a few hours ago observing him take control of things inside the main bowl - former National track heroes, Olympians Bruce Ijirigho and Godwin Obasogie, will take the listener through their interesting past and present experiences, as well as their expectations of the Games.
