The sad lives and plight of retired sports heroes.
Last week, Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, called on the National Sports Commission and State governments to establishment of a special fund/scheme to take care of the vexatious matter of the sad lives of most retired sports heroes in Nigeria.
It was the first time any such high profile person would take the matter to the public space the way he did.
What would the NSC do with that call?
What do other countries do to take care of their retired sports heroes?
What is the true situation of Nigeria’s retired international sports heroes? Is it as bad as is being painted?
Why do they die poor and young?
Education does not appear to be the fool-proof antidote that is been promoted and prescribed. Even the educated are suffering and dying young.
This Saturday, we take the matter directly to the retired athletes and also ask some experts about true-life experiences on the subject in order to find some practical answers. Emeka Enyadike leads the conversation.
Join us on ‘90 mins with Mathematical’ this Saturday morning from 7:30am on Eagle7 Sports Radio 103.7 fm, Wasimi.

Tonight….
I returned to Lagos tonight to see my sons, their mum, their two dogs and 3 cats.
I walk into the sitting room, and there it is on display - a truly magnificent painting.
Then he appears from nowhere, in flesh and blood.
Yes, the world-renowned young man from Ibadan, the Nigerian artist commissioned to do the last portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, shortly before she died, one of the great, new generation fine artists on earth today - Oluwole Omofemi.
Don’t bother to ask me what happens thereafter. I am honored to stand by a god, his giant painting hugging the floor behind us, as we pose for a picture!
Here is a true genius!
Check him out!
