I cannot recall the last time the Super Eagles ever lost a match at home and went away to win! Next Friday, in Kigali, that’s what they will set out to do, face, probably, the biggest test for this generation of Eagles.
To defeat Rwanda away from home will be one of the great feats in Nigerian football history. It is NOT going to be easy to achieve. It will be a ‘Do-or-Die’ challenge, a Herculean task that will take guts, and draw sweat and blood to accomplish.
Yet, this is one match the Super Eagles must win against all odds - a background of unconvincing previous results, a new coach with a new playing philosophy, and a team of, substantially, the same set of players (except one or two).
The hope is that the crucial nature of the match will propel the players to perform beyond their usual capacities, and do better than they have done away from home.
On ‘90 minutes with Mathematical’ this Saturday (March 15, 2025) morning, I shall be looking into my crystal ball and sharing the stage with ordinary Nigerians that may call to join me via telephone +234 70022551037 and +234 8127828497
