Girls and Sports in SOCA!
This may be a bit late in coming, but we shall be doing greater dis-service by not sending out this information.
Since the inception of the Segun Odegbami International College and Sports Academy, SOCA, two decades ago, the girls’ programs have not been as robust and grounded as the boys’ only because there has not been an on-campus dormitory for them. It has been difficult for the girls to get the full dose of 4 hours of sports every day!
Living one kilometre away, and commuting to and from the main campus for their daily academic and sports workouts affected the depth of their programs, limiting the impact on their overall performance in SOCA.
All of that is about to change!
When SOCA resumes for the new session from 14th September 2025, an ultra-modern, freshly-minted Girl’s dormitory will be ready on the Campus.
A grand program to produce some female national team players for Nigeria in Football, Track and Tennis, in 3 years, would begin in earnest.
A Cameroonian/American Track and Field coach, former assistant to late Lee Evans, will be joining SOCA as head of the athletics academy.
The tennis and football programs for the girls will be boosted with new coaches, facilities, programs and equipment.
With the dormitory now in place, SOCA has a few vacant places in JS1 to SS2 only, for talented Girls in Sport, passionate about it and willing to combine it with academics!
