European Football Predictions – Week 2

French Ligue 1

RENNES v PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN.

Both teams met two weeks ago in the French Super Cup. The capital club is favourite to win. PSG has won their last 4 trips to Roazhon Park and should secure another victory on the road.

VERDICT: 3-1 (PSG win)

German Bundesliga

BAYERN MUNICH v HERTHA BERLIN.

Bayern wants to make it eight league titles in a row. The Champions are unbeaten in 24 home league matches against Hertha and that home support should spur them to victory

VERDICT: 2-0 (Bayern Munich)

 Spanish La Liga

ATHLETIC BILBAO v BARCELONA.

San Mames is a complicated ground for visitors in search of 3 points. But with new boy Antoine Griezmann in the team, Barca will be too strong to stop. The extra quality in Barca should see them through.

VERDICT: 2-1 (Barcelona win)

CELTA VIGO v REAL MADRID.

Real Madrid now has Eden Hazard. It was a relatively poor pre-season for Zidane’s team. Real Madrid hasn’t lost on their last 4 trips to Abanca-Balaidos. Expect Celta Vigo to breach Real Madrid’s brittle defence.

VERDICT:  2-1 (Real Madrid win)

English Premier League

MANCHESTER CITY v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR.

Man. City will continue their five-star performance at West Ham. Tottenham Hotspur will test them and offer a game and half at the Etihad. Both defences would be tested, and both teams will score but City will win.

VERDICT: 2-1 (Man. City to win)

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS v MANCHESTER UNITED.

Wolves are a force at home. United did well in the first home match and will be confident this weekend. United last recorded a big win at the Molineux in 2012, their only victory in 4 visits. This will be tough going.

VERDICT 1-1 Draw
