European Football Predictions – Week 3

French Ligue 1

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN v TOULOUSE.

PSG will look to rebound quickly against an opponent they have dominated at the Parc des Princes in recent years (nine wins in Toulouse’s last ten league visits). Toulouse has made a bright start to the new season but securing any point in the capital is out of reach.

VERDICT: 3 – 0 (PSG to dominate and win comfortably at home)

German Bundesliga

SCHALKE 04 v BAYERN MUNICH.

Both teams started their campaign without a victory to leave Bayern trailing Dortmund already. Summer acquisitions, Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic are available for selection and can make their debut. Bayern has won seven of their last eight Bundesliga games in Schalke, scoring 19 goals and conceding just two.

VERDICT: 2 – 1 (Bayern Munich to win)

Italian Serie A

PARMA v JUVENTUS.

Juventus begin the defence of their title away at Parma against one of the best counterattacking teams in the league.  A new era begins under Maurizio Sarri and his Sarri-ball tactics are the part of the new Juventus. Can they get the ball rolling in Stadio Ennio Tardini? Juve has played Parma in the opening match of the new season three times and won all of them. Cristiano Ronaldo and co can make it four on Saturday

VERDICT: 2 – 1 (Juve to win)

Spanish LaLiga

BARCELONA v REAL BETIS.

Barcelona suffered opening day defeat in Bilbao while Betis lost at home. Both teams will be eager to get the new campaign underway with a victory in week two.  With Suarez and Dembele out injured, Leo Messi just recovering from his injury, Betis will fancy their chances at the Camp Nou but they are likely to come up short.

VERDICT:  2 – 0 (Barcelona to win)

English Premier League

LIVERPOOL v ARSENAL.

Liverpool host Arsenal in the top-of-the-table clash at Anfield on Saturday evening as both sides are the only two to have won their opening fixtures. Either side can go top of the table, seize leadership of the Premier League with a victory in Merseyside.  Jurgen Klopp has faced Arsenal seven times without losing in the Premier League. It is unlikely that would change this weekend. We expect goals from both teams.

VERDICT: 3 – 1 (Liverpool to win)
